As you have seen on the other pages we as a community need
to get involved in how our City is being run.
It is frustrating to see businesses open up only to have to close down
after a short period of time. This is
partly due to how we have become used to spending our leisure time. We have gotten comfortable going to Tucson
for a Saturday of entertainment, eating and enjoying the outdoor
activities. Think on how the City of Benson
could benefit from those dollars being spent here.
We used to have a movie theater and granted it was not a big
one however it was local. Now add a dog
park near our businesses. How about a
better parking situation with an updated crosswalk system allowing us to more
easily spend our money at our local stores. What would you like to see come to Benson?
Recently the murals on
4th Street were redone. How
often prior to that did you think to yourself they are looking pretty sad
and someone should fix it? What to you needs attention? Are you willing to spend a little effort and have the City Counsel hear your idea?
These small changes can lead to a very large return on your
small effort of simply going to the Town Hall Meeting and having your voice be
heard.
John, I feel like you used too many 'you' statements in your voice recording. When you address the reader with 'you' it may make them feel like you are attacking them, and make them uncomfortable. Other than that I found this blog REALLY informative, and it makes me want to make a difference! :)

Never really thought about how welcoming our town looks now that you point it out. The town looks pretty dead and creepy.
ReplyDeleteSome really good issues were brought up in this blog and the way you all explained them can really open up peoples eyes to show the true importance of going to city council meetings.
